I’m always sort of tickled that in spite of the fact broadcast “Meteorologists” have access to satellites, Doppler radar systems, remote weather cams and powerful computers…they still can’t call it right, most of the time. Their average of good calls seems just about the same as it was when I worked in broadcast television (the late 60’s) and there were no satellites, no radars, no remote cams and no computers… just some data feeds from the wire services. Heck, NOAA wasn’t even around then and still, WOOD-TV’s Buck Matthews and the other weather guys (no Meteorologists back then) called ‘em pretty accurately.

At any rate, here’s the Twitter log from a highly-ranked weatherperson -excuse me, “Meteorologist” -from this past weekend. If you’re not familiar with Twitter, it reads from the bottom up.

Besides keeping the alligators at bay, stuffing you with gumbo, red beans & rice and making certain there’s enough cold Abitaaaaahhhh on hand for everyone -a big part of our job here in Doc’s Swamp School o’ Mojo is teaching you stuff that’ll help your business succeed.

One thing I think is essential to every business owner nowadays, regardless of the size of your biz, is to have at least one daily chuckle -if not a full and satisfying belly laugh. It’s grim out there. We need something to take our mind off the worldly woes and get things in perspective. What better way than copping a good laugh?

Which is why I occasionally post something that I think is funny. ’cause I want you to get your grin on, too.

Besides that -if you take a second look at the funny stuff here, the common thread is they’re all very clever marketing ideas. Like that bit about the Stonyfield yogurt container lids yesterday, or the guitar outlet storefront, or the business cards we talked about in a previous post.

You won’t forget that guitar store for awhile, will you?

Didn’t think so. See? Whoever thought that up knew their Mojo. For better or worse, that store is branded into your brain.

And that’s what I want you to start doing; thinking about better ways to get your point, your price, your product, your service, your image, or your entire business branded in the minds of your tribe members.

And for that matter, to get new members to your tribe, too!

To that end, we’ll keep throwing a funny bone at you once in awhile.

And if you’ve spotted something that tickles your marketing fancy -share it with us, will ya? Particularly if it’s one of YOUR good ideas!

Thanks.
