Don’t Tell Me What It Is, Tell Me What It Does.

Do you know the difference between features and benefits?

Short answer: people buy benefits.

So why is it that many businesses still write ad copy as if all anyone cares about are the details about their product or services?

Your goal isn’t to sell your product or service to people. It’s to offer your product or service to people who have a problem; people who would benefit from what it is you’re offering.

I’ve always looked at the change of seasons as an great starting point for new endeavors. Kinda like the way you make your New Year’s resolutions – only with my approach, you get four starts every year instead of just one!

So what needs doing before the next season?

Marketing your business doesn’t have to be frightening. If you do a little at a time on a continual basis, your business can flourish. Make it your resolution this quarter to try something new to help promote your business. Whether that’s starting a Facebook fan page for your business, attending a chamber meet-n-greet, or refining your :30 second elevator speech (and using it) – do something today that will move you toward success.

Zombies in the Marketplace!

The new movie, Zombieland, has been raking in the dough this month. But, just because Zombies are big bucks for the big screen doesn’t mean they’re good for YOUR business.

Many of us keep on doing what we’ve always done for for a number of reasons –we’re comfortable, we’re frightened of change, it’s always worked before. But that’s such a contradiction to the risk we took to get into business in the first place, isn’t it? To be successful, you have to think forward; look at how you can best put new technology and ideas to work for you. Bottom line, it’s time to make your marketing come alive. Don’t send out any more zombies.
