Could Art Directors be right?

Some art director once boasted that a pix is worth a thousand words and it got picked up and repeated by every art director who has been on this good green globe ever since.

And while I disagree about the exact amount of words a picture is worth -sometimes it’s much less, sometimes it’s much more -it’s hardly worth the effort to try and argue this point with a designer or art director. They’ll just drone on and on and on… wear you right down to the nub, as it were… to where you might as well give them the point just to shut them up and get them back to their magical Land o’ Pixels.

That being said, I put great stock in using imagery -photos and/or illustrations -in my blogs, sales pages, books, videos -heck, everything I create or publish -because photos and drawings not only create visual interest, but they help tell the story.

Writing Your Own Ad Copy? Don’t Reinvent The Wheel…

If you’re going to be writing your own copy, you don’t have to continually reinvent the wheel! Immerse yourself in other successful ads, and “swipe” the ideas  -not the
copy -as and the tactics that are used in great ads.

Most pro copywriters I’ve known have a banker’s box or two worth of great ads they’ve collected over the years…and when they’re stuck for an idea, they dig in their Swipe Files to get a little inspiration.

Thanks to the Internet, you can access a couple of cool Swipe Files, and do it for no charge. Here are a couple that I recommend:
