Customer service means being there.
Customers want to deal with businesses that have someone there for them whenever they need help. Whether it’s through personal emails, telephone or live online chat, customer service is -hands down -the true key to business success.
If a customer has a need or a question or a problem, they want to know you’re there to help them whenever they need it. Make sure you or your business is available to them.
And let people know your hours of operation; post it prominently on your website, print it on your forms and literature. That way, they won’t get (so) frustrated when you don’t respond immediately to their midnight phone call, or their Sunday morning email.
Another inexpensive-yet-impressive tool is a toll-free 800 number. They’re cheap nowadays -literally just pennies per minute. (If you’re interested, here’s a little toll-free review site)
