Weekend benefit concert honors the late James "Smiley" Lewis

This Saturday, I’ll be appearing with a solid cast of blues musicians from Up North (from Marquette down to Milwaukee) at the Terrace Bay Resort, just outside of Escanaba, Michigan.

The “Blues Cats” Benefit Concert is held annually as a memorial to my late buddy and bandmate, James “Smiley” Lewis.  There’s a small cover charge, and all proceeds go to the local Humane Society. The event is organized by our sweet friend, Wendy Pepin, who also puts me up in her charming DeGrand House. (That’s a shameless plug, yes. It’s a great place to stay).

It all starts at 3 pm and goes until 2 am Sunday. If you’re in the area…it’s what’s happening, baby. Those Yoopers know how to party. I should know. I was born in nearby Iron Mountain, Michigan.
