“Take a picture -it’ll last longer!’”

My friend Josh Fozzard brings a friendly face to his business.

My friend Josh Fozzard brings a friendly face to his business.

That’s an old taunt from my grade school days but, where marketing your business is concerned, there’s some Mojo behind it. Said this before but it’s worth repeating -prospects want to know who they’re doing business with. And if you’re in business, one of the ways to build your name and image recognition is to put a photo of yourself on your business card and web site.

I see you now (this is really a two-way screen) shaking your head. “Not me, I’m not showing MY face!” “I’m gonna let every nimrod know who I am? I think not.” “I’m not photogenic.” “I’m too shy.”

Lots of excuses. And lots of doubt.

Look, it’s a fact that we’re all facing the challenges of small business marketing, which means cutting through the clutter and addressing the “Know you, Like you, Trust you” factor that’s critical to winning over today’s increasingly jaded (and budget-conscious) consumers.

And that’s why something as seemingly insignificant as putting your photo on your business card and your site can help.

Why?

Mojo Secret: The strongest asset you have in marketing your business is actually yourself.

:::

Let’s say you hand out business cards at an event. Big deal, right? So does everyone else.

What will set you apart is that you are identified with your business the minute someone sees your photo on the card.

Or, let’s say a prospect comes across your web site for Bob’s Possum Pie Restaurant. And there you are. Bob. A real person.

Pairing a picture with print is a great memory tool. And providing visible evidence of your experience, credentials, and capabilities is what will ultimately convince skeptical buyers that you are the person they want to do business with.

What’s more, you deserve to be the star of your own promotional materials. So stop hiding behind an anonymous marketing image and let your customers know who you really are.
