Time To Chase The Clouds Away.

sunny-dayWhile reading the news the other day, I saw the article about the 41-year-old exec from Freddie Mac who committed suicide. Sadly, he wasn’t the first to take his own life, or the lives of others, during this time of economic upheaval. I only mention him because he’s the most recent to come to mind.

So what’s this all about? Have we built a society wherein we measure success purely by our financial statement? Where greed is considered in the same family as drive, talent or perseverance? Where a person who’s lost a fortune in paper thinks his or her life is worthless? That a man will kill himself and his family instead of facing up to tomorrow?

Brothers and Sisters, this is bad, bad Mojo.

Please understand me, here; I’m certainly not against making money. I think money is a good thing. But money does not a successful person make.

And,as the media has helped made abundantly clear, the more money you have doesn’t necessarily mean the happier you are.

Good Mojo is being able to appreciate who you are as a person, more than what you have to show for it. It’s recognizing “success” as something measured in attitude, not dollars. I’ve made lots of money, and I’ve lost lots of money. Right now, I have enough -and a little extra. Certainly not as much as I’ve had before. But I’ve got to admit that where I am right now is probably the best place I’ve been in my life.

If you’ve hit a roadblock and success seems elusive, take a step back. Evaluate what you have now and what you think success would look like. Talk to the people you love and respect. Seek help and assistance where you can. Share ideas. Share a laugh.  Realize there’s no time like the present to become successful.

And with that…let’s get going, shall we?
